Pupils must hold a valid UK provisional or full driving licence appropriate for the tuition being undertaken and produce it when requested.
Pupils must meet the legal eyesight requirements, including being able to read a vehicle registration plate from 20 metres for modern plates or 20.5 metres for older-style plates.
Glasses or contact lenses must be worn when driving if required to meet these standards.
Pupils must inform their instructor of any medical condition, medication or change in circumstances that may affect their ability or legal entitlement to drive.
Pupils are responsible for complying with applicable DVLA medical notification requirements.
Lesson duration is agreed between the pupil and instructor and may vary according to individual requirements and availability.
Collection and drop-off locations must be agreed with the instructor in advance and remain within their operating area.
Pupils should be ready at the agreed collection point at the scheduled time.
Pupils must provide at least 24 hours’ notice when cancelling or rearranging a driving lesson.
Cancellations can be made by telephone or text message. Instructors should acknowledge cancellations, but pupils will not be penalised for a delayed response if their cancellation was received within the required notice period.
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may result in the full lesson fee being charged, where reasonable.
If a pupil fails to attend a scheduled lesson, the instructor will wait for 15 minutes at the agreed collection point.
If the pupil has not arrived or made contact within that time, the instructor may leave and the lesson may be charged in full, where reasonable.
The standard lesson rate is currently £40 per hour.
Bank transfer (BACS): Payment must be received at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson.
Cash: Payment may be made on the day of the lesson. (If paying by cash we kindly ask that you pay at the start of the lesson, not the end).
Lesson prices may change, but pupils will be informed of any increase in advance. Lessons already paid for will remain at the originally agreed price.
Lessons may occasionally need to be cancelled or rearranged due to illness, severe weather, traffic conditions, vehicle breakdowns or other unforeseen circumstances.
If an instructor cancels a lesson, the pupil will not be charged. Any advance payment will be refunded or transferred to a rearranged lesson, according to the pupil’s preference.
Where an instructor is unavailable, Noob Learner may offer a replacement instructor. Pupils may accept the replacement or rearrange their lesson without penalty.
Pupils must not attend lessons under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs or any medication that impairs their ability to drive safely.
Instructors may immediately terminate a lesson if a pupil behaves aggressively, uses abusive language, refuses to follow essential safety instructions or is considered unfit to drive.
Lessons terminated because of unacceptable pupil conduct may remain chargeable, where reasonable.
Pupils must consult their instructor before booking a practical driving test to discuss their readiness and confirm the availability of the tuition vehicle.
Instructors reserve the right to refuse the use of their vehicle for a driving test if they reasonably believe the pupil has not reached a safe driving standard or is unfit to drive.
Where possible, pupils will be informed of such decisions at the earliest reasonable opportunity.
Noob Learner cannot accept responsibility for driving tests cancelled by the DVSA for reasons outside our control.
Any refund or compensation from the DVSA is subject to its eligibility rules and procedures.
Where a test is cancelled because of a preventable fault or unsuitable condition of the instructor’s vehicle, Noob Learner will accept responsibility for its own failure to provide a suitable vehicle, in accordance with applicable consumer law.
All tuition vehicles must be roadworthy, appropriately insured and maintained to the required legal standards.
If a lesson cannot take place because of a vehicle breakdown or other issue beyond the pupil’s control, the pupil may rearrange the lesson or receive a refund.
If a lesson is interrupted or ends early because of instructor illness, vehicle problems or another issue beyond the pupil’s control, any unused lesson time will be refunded or credited towards a future lesson.
